STUDENT GUARDIAN VISA (SUBCLASS 590)
This visa allows you to stay in Australia as the guardian of an international student younger than 18 years of age studying in Australia on a student visa.
The length of your visa will be determined by the student visa holder’s stay and age.
- be the parent, relative guardian or custodian of the individual who is undertaking studies in Australia and is under the age of 18 years old;
- be over 21 years old;
- be able to provide accommodation, welfare and support to the student;
- be able to meet the financial requirement of your stay in Australia;
- meet the Australian health and character requirements;
- the applicant must provide evidence that they will stay in Australia temporarily.
- not allowed to work;
- not allowed to attend training courses with a total duration of more than 3 months or study an English course for more then 20 hours per week;
- must have compulsory medical insurance;
- cannot leave Australia and leave the student without guardianship:
- can bring other children under 6 years old if there are compelling and compassionate reasons to do so.
