Big news! The Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics New Zealand have announced tailored updates to occupational statistical classifications to better reflect the unique labour markets of each country.
While maintaining international and Trans-Tasman comparability, both countries will now introduce their own classifications to meet modern needs.
🔹 Australia: The new Occupation Standard Classification for Australia (OSCA), 2024 will launch on Friday, 6 December 2024. It’s designed to capture Australia’s evolving workforce with greater precision.
🔹 New Zealand: Their updated list will come into effect on Wednesday, 20 November 2024, with a focus on better representing New Zealand’s modern labour market.
This move ensures continuity, comparability, and data accuracy for both nations, while recognizing the increasing differences in their labour markets since the joint ANZSCO system began in 2006.
Stay tuned for more updates as these changes come into effect!
